Their rules are so, so confusing, it's sad. At least for SSDI, but I don't remember if SSI has the same rules on that. Also it's VERY confusing if doing work on your own, ie self-employed. From an income standpoint, on SSDI you can make over $2k a month when legally blind and still get benefits, but also they have it where some number of hours worked in a month counts against you even if you didn't make money. lol. (I think 80).
So, anyway, I know I haven't said any definite help yet, but bottom line is it's confusing and I'll have to look it up again and hopefully someone on SSI will know for sure if the monthly limit is the same as on SSDI etc etc... it may be lower.
You'd think they would make it simpler to understand and also make it easier to work and not lose benefits... maybe even just lower benefits a little, but not totally. But they have all kinds of bad rules.

The last time I looked, you could work up to 20 hours a month on SSI. This was several years ago, so you might want to check on that.
