No super hero hearing. No I don’t want to touch your face. Yes there are things people who are blind can’t do.

As a fellow writer who is blind, I will say to avoid tropes that give the blind character an escape. Don’t go around the blindness. It’s a limitation the character has and that should be the point of it; to have the character learn to be okay with themselves or whatever their arch is. I personally like really small but very moments to be represented, such as when the character is confused by someone saying “over here” or “over there.” Also, if the character is comfortable with themselves, I do appreciate some blind jokes, but not everyone does

Hi OP.

What do you do with these characters once they are created?

Make sure he swears enough. I mean it's sci fi, you can make up some fantastic smegging swearwords that won't have a frak of a chance to cause anyone any shazbot. But I curse and swear a lot. Possibly it's the British influence. What I'm saying is don't make him meek and quiet.

I think understanding real people and who they are is the way to avoid weird tropes. Some good ones are already mentioned I think that blind people can be very normalized too it all depends on the person the characters are either idolized super humans or not very bright.

I would say not being able to do visual stuff or drive is the most important thing. And it has to be strictly visual.

Hey...I think it depends upon the nature of the character...alot of times when people go through a trauma, there's a handful number of ways they go on with their life...they either learn from it and power through it and are still mostly independent ..mhut do have moments when they are vulnerable but its not verry often, the other one is the person feels like it's unfair towards them and take longer to be okay with what they are going through or one other way they could take it is to play as the person who needs more attention and kinda uses their issues to their advantage to survive...you could take any of these approaches and develop your characters story from there according to the other people...I'm s partially blind myself and it's a big thing to go through ..so I hope you don't just walk around the issue.
