Sewing for the blind and visually impaired (self.Blind)
submitted by AdaptiveSewing
We provide kits and tutorials to make sewing and fabric crafting fun and functional with impressive results! Our patented tactile sewing system was originally designed to help my mom who lost her eyesight due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, and later developed into a kit to make it easier for anyone to learn! Check out our resources below and feel free to contact us with any questions. All profits are given to charity with a primary focus on blind and disabled communities.

I like this idea. The basic pillow is an easy start for even beginning sewing for anyone. For blind, visually impaired or disabled, this is a great idea. I am legally blind with 50% central spotty low vision in one eye and 90% blind in the other eye all of my life. It takes time learn. I was able to sew on a machine as a teen, but still had to have my Mom help with tricky things like zippers and sleeves. Your prices are good and affordable for the person who does not usually have sewing things on hand. At blind school they had crochet class. I had done some basics in my younger years. That was a good project as well. We were to make a simple scarf of acrylic yarn for cold/winter days. That was an easy project for beginners. You might consider that in your kits as well.

I’m interested in giving sewing a go. Do you ship to Australia?
