Has anyone ever use the touchscreen-based chrome book, or knows anything about Touch based screen reader for Google chrome based devices (self.Blind)
submitted by fantasy53
I found this article from 2014 about a new touch-based screen reader, which incorporates many of the best features of iOS, android Talkback and some unique features from Chrome its self.

$1

There hasn't been an update to that page since 2014, and I was just wondering what happened to the project, if it was still ongoing as it looked brilliant, it could certainly revolutionise the way blind people use chrome books in the future.

I have looked on the Chrome OS forum but there doesn't seem to be any information about it there either.

I have a touch screen Chromebook. I'm sighted and don't normally use ChromeVox but I could do some experiments if you want to suggest some.

Have said that text to speech and spoken output on ChromeVox seem to be not working at the moment.

have you tried this info?

Per /u/accessaces: There are newer articles. Look for 'gestures for chromevox' . There are a bunch of gestures that use the touch screen similar to Talkback.

ChromeOS and chrome books are generally terrible for accessibly, and generally buggy in my experience. Good luck with whatever you find!

I agree. I've used one before, and it was basically unmanagable. I'd say it was worse than Microsofts attempt at windows phone narrator.
