Glad to see I am in the majority and chorus I don’t find them useful either and don’t want it myself don’t think they are good. Interesting and fascinating on paper not so good pragmatically.

Will save you time and trouble by just saying that the vast majority of blind people don't want "smart" canes. They are expensive, are not weatherproofed, we are already carrying phones and other technology that already performs the tasks a smart cane tries to do, and canes are meant to hit things and can break/gaet run over/stepped on, etc.
Strongly recommend you focus your efforts on another need and drop this project idea.
