Opinions of a research study (self.Blind)

Hi everyone !
I am currently in college to become a teacher for the blind and visually impaired (TVI). Before I graduate, I have to do a research study. I want to know:
Are there are any skills that your TVI or orientation and mobility instructor (O&M ) did not teach you that you wished they did?
Or if there is any skill that you believe should be included in the expanded core curriculum (ECC) that is not there now.
Your opinions would help me so much and would be greatly appreciated!

I’m from the UK, but I wish I was taught how to do basic chores.
Taking out the rubbish, cleaning a sink, cleaning a bath, that kind of stuff.

I am working towards becoming a teacher for the blind in New York, USA. We are suppose to go into the home and teach these skills. Now I am interested to see how the curriculum is different in the UK. Thank you so much for replying, this helps a lot .

Thank you so much for replying! I’m working towards being a teacher of the blind in New York and I know in this state, we go instead the home and teach these skills. I am interested research the curriculum in UK, thank you so much!

I was never taught to do any chores, I don't think wecall them that here in the UK but I'm not sure.
noone ever came to teach me any of this stuff.
I'm so glad you teach these peple what they need to know.
Keep in mind; you may look up a thing and it says we do x y z but if you really want to research that stuff; it's best to ask peple who've actually been there.
For example; our mobility, what you call O and M, instructors are mostly shit outside of schools for the blind.

It’s been a long time since I had O&m. I finished HS in 01, and that stopped long before that. I have no idea what all the coriculum, I give up on trying to spell that word, involves now. I guess growing up in a smaller town I wish I had received more training in busy intersections. Those make me uncomfortable to this day.

Thank you so much for replying! I grew up in a small town as well and I know my town has very limited transportation assistance for anyone who is blind or visually impaired. This helped a lot, thank you again.
