It sounds like this one is now too big. This shouldn’t be happening. I actually have the opposite problem as you where my eyelid doesn’t open all the way lol. But I think that’s because my body decided I don’t need to do that. Wasted energy, you know? But yeah. I rarely have issues like this. You made the right choice am,int a new appointment
Edit) Although I should add that the person who made mine told me it’s rare to never have issues with them. I would assume this just happens sometimes

My ocularist is Steve Young here in Oakland. I have a full socket prosthetic eye and I'm supposed to get it replaced every 6-8 years. I haven't experienced your specific sizing issues in the 34 years of having prosthetics, but did have one that ended up being too large for a month. It just felt very present and that my lids wouldn't close properly over it, so I just went to my ocularist and he reshaped it.
I got a new one a few months ago and it was smaller than my previous ones. Bodies change over time, so it was interesting seeing the fluctuation in the overall molds being taken of my socket for the prosthetics over time. I think my eyelids over my prosthetic are a little weaker than the ones over my real eye and they've never closed naturally together unless I put a little effort into squinting them shut. Do you use Vitamin E lubricant drops?

Interesting enough I was talking about people who have prosthetic eyes some days ago, I have a talk show, third eye vision, I would like for you to come on my show and discuss with my audience about what this is if you are interested

You mentioned that dryness has only been a problem for the past couple of months. It could be that the dryer winter weather is affecting the situation. Aside from simply drying out the prosthesis, the low-humidity air could be causing the lining of your socket to swell up the same way it causes sinus congestion. That, in turn, can congest your tear ducts.
My eyelids don't close all the way over my prosthesis when I sleep, which leads to pretty major irritation in the mornings. I've taken to removing it to sleep. That gives me the chance to clean it nightly as well. (Dry prosthetics get gunked up with protein deposits relatively quickly.) I also wear a patch when I go out on cold and/or windy days.
Good luck with this situation. Hope you get relief.
