Regret for not taking care of my eye (self.Blind)
submitted by Bloom90
I don't know how much impact genetics has over the life I lived abusing my eye. Regardless I am in deep regret that I lived my life, eyes glued to the screen for entire days, no rest. Both my parents have glasses and bad eye sight, but mine has continually gotten worse.

I never listened when they told me to take care of my eyes. I thought it would be there forever. But now my glasses are getting thicker and thicker, more expensive and my eyes hurt when looking at a screen a little.

I am scared of making it worse.. and feeling helpless. There is no natural way I know of to improve eye sight. Lasik surgery is the only way and even that is expensive and may not even work for my horrible astigmatism.

There is no evidence that screen time harms vision. There is another cause for your deteriorating vision

That sounds right. I'll try find the cause

I used to get really bad headaches looking at screens all day. I turned my brightness down to about 1/3 of max and I haven’t had a problem since. You should give that a go

I'll try it

Are you "just" severely short sighted or do you have a specific VI? I could be wrong but as someone who was severely short sighted, I I dont believe you are to blame for this. I had laser surgery 10 years ago and while yes it is expensive here in ireland, you pay up front and can then claim some back on tax and through private insurance if you have that. Also depending on the reason for your vision are screens to blame or are you blaming yourself for something out of your control?

Severely short sighted with bad astigmatism. I am getting mixed results online on whether it is possible for someone with very bad eye sight and bad astigmatism..

I don't know the cause either.. for all I know it is my excessive screen use

Relax you’re going to be fine. You’re worrying entirely too much. I think you’ll be fine.

I have parents and people who are constantly very critical so I know how it is and a lot of self blame or at least some I try not think about it. You’ll be alright. If you have further problems then see a doctor but also worrying and overly anxious stuff will also cause issues.

Just with blaming yourself, I know my parents both had perfect vision (until old age) but 4 out of 5 of us were all very short sighted by 12 :) . Only 1 escaped with perfect vision. These things happen. I believe you can get click on screens to go over computer monitors that can help, different colours help with different conditions https://www.google.com/search?q=monitor+screen+overlay&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwi5k5f86cXuAhWIWBUIHfzoBGEQ2-cCegQIABAB&oq=monitor+screen+overlay&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQAzICCAAyBggAEAgQHjoECAAQQ1CyA1j0FWCyG2gAcAB4AIABmQaIAYkVkgENMi4yLjIuMC4xLjEuMZgBAKABAcABAQ&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=Q3QWYPnlCYix1fAP_NGTiAY&bih=732&biw=412&client=ms-android-vf-ie-revc&prmd=ivsn#imgrc=mm_rKH410-XdlM
