When I asked this same question on r/disability people said that the UK has a disability month that started in 2010.

Oct. is the disability awareness month in the U.S. In July we celebrate the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I live in the US. I didn’t know about the ADA until I became disable. I just assumed that there was a law that protected disable people from being discriminated against. I didn’t know what it was specifically called. ADA awareness in July is more of a voluntary thing for people to do though. I am looking for more of a requirement thing.

I highly doubt you'd find that honestly.

It does! I had no idea and live in the UK. I'd assume that's useful but an intire month? Personally I'd either use the internet or perhaps 2 weeks, one month just sounds like a long time but then again I'm not that good at concentrating :)

Truthfully not a lot if I was to be frank. There’s just not that collective awareness about this issue. The october. Meet the blind month exist and 10-15 is white cane day but honestly it’s just passed over no one except the blind community really sees it as this most schools don’t honor this month. So yeah. When they talk about the ADa or civil rights disability is just glossed over. So the technically correct answer is formally none. Some individual classes and certain schools may honor this but not many.
Disability is a very nitch and unfortunately minor civil rights even if it should be. No one knows about the ADa I think you replied and said something to this effect the state of things is very unfortunate and sad. I kind of think that’s how establishment wants it.

I'm not sure about a disability month. I feel like saying what Morgan Freeman said about the black history month in the USA. Every month is disability month for some of us, or more to the point it isn't, it's not something I really want anyone to think of as special.
I remember when I was at school more than 20 years ago this stuff was mentioned, I'm not sure what else I would expect them to do. We had disabled kids at the school. I went to schools in both the UK and USA and it was similar in both cases.

Never heard of the disability month in the UK myself, but we do have lessons on disabilities in religious studies

Ireland - my kids are 4 years into primary school and I have yet to see homework or school work regarding disability. They have had 2 separate visitors to the school,a guide dog user and a paraathlethe. Not sure at what age is it thought on the curriculum
