I'm curious about differences in perspectives with movies and books. (self.Blind)
submitted by Myntrith
I would imagine that enjoying a movie with audio description would be completely different experience than watching a movie. Visual aesthetics and cinematography would obviously be meaningless, as would the body language and facial expressions of actors.

So, I'm curious, what are some of your favorite audio-described movies, and why? What are some of your least favorite, and why?

I'm kind of curious about the same thing with books. The most prominent example that comes to mind as far as an author being visually descriptive would be when Tolkien goes on at length about the landscapes in Lord of the Rings.

What are some of your favorite and least favorite books?

This doesn't answer your question, but I recommend watching a movie you haven't seen before but want to watch with audio description and your eyes closed. If you're in the US, you can use this page to see where content is available: www.acb.org/adp/findavideo.html

I love the cars franchise and any movie with crazy gore or sex. I'm 21. Give me a break also, I hate the Lord of the rings franchise. I like the sword of truth series and I'm a life long potterhead.

Not judging, just curious. When you say you hate the Lord of the Rings franchise, do you mean in all its forms? Or Just the movies? Or just the books?

Both. I just could never get into it. I find Gandolf's magic limited because he can only use 1 spell before he has to recharge or that's what I remember. IDK its just not my series.

I love to read books with lots of description—including Tolkien.

If the person has seen before the visuals wouldn’t be a problem if not I suppose the person can imagine being there feeling the wind on their face or the plants around end walking that landscape?

I mostly read nonfiction and that’s not because I am blind my favorite fiction is Atlas shrugged and my least favorite is catcher in the rye and not for blindness issues it was kind of weird and I didn’t get it. For all books I really like milton friedman. Oh I didn’t like the Silmarilian either or how you spelt it and also for non blind reasons again more to do with who I am because I thought it was boring read like a bible or textbook and didn’t like it
