OSU Student Looking for a Research Opportunity - Survey/Interview Search (self.Blind)
submitted by Top_Refrigerator_292
Hello everybody! I want to start off by saying I am not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I am attempting to reach out to COLLEGE or UNIVERSITY STUDENTS who have a visual impairment. If a survey about this topic interests you, please continue.

Some background about myself: My name is Nicholas Robert and I am an undergraduate student at OSU. My project group and I are working to develop a plan for a device that could help those with visual impairments navigate more independently and safer on a university campus.

Below is a URL Link to a Google Forms survey that should take 5-15 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation and responsiveness!

Sure. There’s already a lot of solutions that helps people get around already. I don’t have too much trouble getting around my university much besides the sheer size of it. Solutions that could help already exist and at that point it’s like reinventing the wheel.

I filled out your questionnaire, but it didn't seem to be very uni specific?

My uni doesn't have any form of tactile door signs and didn't think to show me to my class rooms, until I asked for help
Once that was done I really can't think of anything that would've been helpful before I knew the campus

The 'new' one way system is confusing as I can't see the arrows on the floor! But someone in my class would take me the right way and now I know. I could've used my phone camera to find the arrows probably so even that already has a solution

I really appreciate the idea, but it's been done a lot and the only things I really needed was more awareness from the uni to begin with :/
