how blind people use parcel lockers to get packages?(self.Blind)
submitted by hahaena
Hi! I'm a college student from China, and I’m doing a study on blind and visually impaired. I wonder how blind people use parcel lockers to get packages? Do you want or need to retrieve packages yourselves? Any difficulty during the process? Can lockers like Amazon Locker solve your problems? Any of your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yeah, that’s a good question. I just have the packages sent to me. So I don’t know about a locker. Sounds interesting though. I have heard of those and knew what you meant but have not used them.
Did they really help you get the packages yourselves? Did someone use Amazon Talking Locker function?

at least herein the UK they're like ticket machines. useless without sighted help. I'd heard you could just present a QR code for collection at some, which may be doable if you didn't need to touch something first... But I've not seen one of those anywhere yet.

I’m not sure what you mean by parcel lockers, I think your referring to something like Post Office boxes? Basically boxes you pay a few to get your mail/packages delivered to at the post office that you can access with a key, or retailer services like Amazon locker. Apartment and housing complexes like where I live are like this. The ones I have seen have raised lettering, and or Braille, so someone could have their key and know their unit number, feel for the label, and use the box like anyone else

Yes, self-service parcel pickup machine or smart express cabinet like Amazon locker, through scanning QR code or entering a number to get the delivery. Can you find the exact pop-up slot yourselves? Do you retrieve packages yourselves in smart lockers?
