Does being blind mean you are not afraid of heights? How do you perceive height? Is there some inherent awareness of how high off the ground you are? Audio in subtext. (self.Blind)

Just write out your question we don’t need the audio we can read the text. I am sure mentally you can still be afraid of heights though. And I can read your text so just type your replies.

Ok. I read the rules for the sub and it said to include audio
siriuslylupin6 1 points 2y ago
It does? Not many other people have anyway and most of us can read the text. So yeah, maybe it’s like videos include audio but not text? Like writing. So yeah.....

It's easy to perceive height when you're free falling through it. Also, when you actually have to fly up to get that high up, you know it's pretty flippin high. Going skydiving from 10000 feet was a lot of fun!! I'd like to go higher sometime!!

I'm afraid of hights because I can't see the ground. That's why I don't like rollercoasters.
earthboundTM 2 points 2y ago
I bet the drops are terrifying. I’d imagine some blind people love that thrill
FantasticGlove 2 points 2y ago
My Dad loves rollercoasters. He's also blind along with my brothers.

They're lots of fun!! So are negative G pushovers in airplanes!!

I love them!!

Looking off the edge of a cliff is what scares me.
meeowth 1 points 2y ago
Close your eyes and have a friend guide you around. Can you tell when a precipice is near and does it frighten you? You might be surprised at how easy it is to feel and hear the nearby presence of a lack of ground
hopesthoughts 1 points 2y ago
I always think hmm, where's my parachute?
earthboundTM 1 points 2y ago
Interesting. I’ve just always been told that blindness (especially from birth) is much more encumbering than simply closing one’s eyes. Like, imagine not having hand eye coordination. Hard for me.
meeowth 1 points 2y ago
That sounds a little weird, but I guess the blind from birth makes sense insofar as someone blind later in life will still imagine what things look like in a way someone blind from birth wouldn't

What an experience this life is.

Even though I can't see how far off the ground I am, I can definately feel when I am super high off the ground (and I am totally afraid of heights).

As scared as anyone I guess. Obviously you're careful around the edge of stuff, but isn't everyone?
ukifrit 1 points 2y ago
This question makes no sense at all. You don’t know how high you are only by what you see. Your body tells you these stuff.
earthboundTM 1 points 2y ago
Are you scared of heights?
earthboundTM 1 points 2y ago
Damn I can’t figure out how to paste the audio.
DrLuobo 1 points 2y ago
You pasted the location of the audio file in your phone's memory. You would need to actually upload the file then share that link if you wanted anyone else to hear it. Audio description is not really needed unless it's a picture or something. Plain text will be processed just fine by screen readers, that's what they do.
