I had a stroke in 2019 which luckily only caused a left field vision cut (along with memory issues and a facial tick).
While it's only in my left eye I've found that while I scan to my left I focus too much on that side and neglect my right side peripheral vision. Glasses caused depth perception issues and a prism caused a big issue with headlights (headlights would hit the prism and blind me)
I am wondering if there is something else I can use to let me know where stuff is on my left side without focusing on that side as much.
Thanks

You honestly may have to turn your head to look. That’s some rough stuff friend. The prism headlights thing sounds miserable. (I have a light sensitivity in general so they can hurt)

I have astigmatism so every light from headlights to traffic lights have rays shooting out of them which is why I think that's why a prism doesn't seem to work. I do have to turn my head to the left to see anything, if I hold a pen and try to use peripheral vision I don't see the pen until it hits the center of my eye even though I know it's there.

While COVID-19 complicates things, you might find it helpful to talk to what I believe is called a low vision therapist. They can help you learn how to maximize your vision with various tools and techniques. I would guess that regularly scanning back and forth is your best option.

Google eccentric viewing. It’s a strategy that may help you. Did you try a fresnel prism?

I don't know what prism they initially gave me but when headlights hit it it would cause the light to completely blind me so I immediately ditched it along with my glasses (sucks because the damn things cost $500)
Eccentric viewing seems to be using peripheral vision to see what's in front of you but I have no peripheral vision but can see what's ahead of me without issue.
I can't see people if they are on my left side but can hear them and vice versa on the right with not hearing but can see people
