Questions for students regarding online lectures and visual impairment. (self.Blind)
submitted by K-Plant
Hello, I am currently developing software to help aid those who are visually impaired students with online lectures, the software will be capturing the lectures and will save a text description of everything that is shown in a file dated folder for future reference, it will also audibly describe the visuals it is analysing, to help me with my process I need a few questions answered for me and where else to go but reddit! Please if you'd be so kind to answer the following;-

1. Are you currently studying at university?
2. Are you visually impaired? if yes, what type?
3. What is the hardest part about online learning for you?
4. Are certain fonts easier for you to read? e.g serif or sans serif?
5. what is the optimal size of text on a phone screen?
6. Does this software sound useful to you?

1. Yes I am a university student.

2.yes I am visually impaired I am totally blind.

3.all the inaccessible software, slightly clunky websites, other stuff not do to learning.

4. Can’t read fonts so useless to me. Screen reader protocols and accessibility is much more important.

5.again not important for me as long as it’s accessible with voice over or talk back is the most immportant here.

6. Maybe I would just ask people to describe the slides or lectures more. I am currently in the humanities and not in a very visual field. But I suppose.
