Phonetics Symbols File (self.Blind)
submitted by BP2356
Hello all. I am a new Reddit user, and I hope this community may be influential for me. I happen to be totally blind, and am taking a Phonetics course. I happened to find a file that could make NVDA read the characters of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) correctly. This was a life-saver for me when I found it, but it was deleted from NVDA after I updated it to the latest version. The post on Reddit which contained the file was deleted. If anyone has a file labeled Symbols.dic that enables this functionality, could it be re-posted, as it would help me out when studying written Phonetics. Thank you for any help that can be provided, and I apologize if this has been posted in the wrong reddit.

I'm also looking for this. A possible method is to enter each phonetic symbol into the "punctution" dialog in NVDA, and then put in the text pattern. I am also facing the sam issue and I'm also taking a honetics class in the next few days. Haven't found any solution for this yet, so if anyone has something, please respond to this.
