How visual impairment change your activities? (self.Blind)
submitted by ljs6741
Hello community. I am a product designer interested in visual impairment because of my father who's vision worse. I am doing a personal project and came out with several questions that may help me to get some insights. I am not making money with the project; I am doing it for myself. It will be really helpful if you can answer even some of the questions.

You can add comments or direct message me if you want your answer to be private and I can change your persona on my project.

I am also looking for someone I can interview for 5-10 minutes online this week. Direct message me or add comment if you can.

0) Can you briefly tell me about yourself? (Gender, age, country, age visual impairment occurred, condition of vision and etc.)

1-1)What activities(exercises, hobbies, and etc) did you do before you have visual impairment and keep doing the activities after?

1-2) Which part of the activities you mentioned in 1-1 do you like?

2-1) What activities did you do before and stopped because of visual impairment?

2-2) Why did you stop doing so?

3-1) Are there new activities you start doing after visual impairment?

3-2) Why did you chose to start the activities over others?

4-1) Which activities do you miss performing?

4-2) Why did you stop doing the activities? What hardship did you face?

Sure get in touch with me.

0 female, 28 peter’s anomaly, originally from Hong KOng but live in California for like 24 years now. I was born visually impaired but lost all vision at 8 years old. Before that I couldn’t see much to begin with. I could see 3 feet in front of me, and the words had to be as large as a page, each letter or character.

1. I have always liked recording my voice or recording things. Writing stuff. Being active.

2. I have always been visually impaired. But before I lost my vision i enjoyed driving this little kid gocart you sit in it and drive it. Almost wrecklessly.I like almost crashing in to walls then turning at the last minute. Has nothing to do with blindness. Even if I could see the wall at 3 feet I would turn at the last possible minute. Scared the crap out of mum. Haha! Certainly can’t do that after more vision loss. I think I would enjoy driving or motorcycles or something.

3. I’ve been blind most of my life. So.... I pick hobbies because I am interested in them. Tinkering with tech, exploring the city, trying out new foods, reading and learning new things. I am in to typology. I enjoy recording sound scapes and audioblog. Running my typology channel working on a blog I need to write stuff for.

4. I think I don’t mis any of it much but I liked looking at kaleidoscopes and prisms and out bay windows I also liked colors. I think it’s very much impossible to do now haha!
