List of audio described titles on Disney+ Star in Canada (blindluminations.com)

I put this together over the last couple of days for people who use the service in Canada and need a resource to know what’s available with audio descriptions. Please feel free to share with anyone who might find it useful and let me know if I’m missing anything. Thanks!

Wow. Super slim pickins for TV shows. Some pretty decent stuff for movies though. A lot of older stuff has it which really surprises me. Thanks for taking all the time doing this. It sounds like it was arduous. Hopefully Disney themselves will step up and make it easy to find stuff. I do like that they've included Star though.

The thing I found with the older stuff is that I’m pretty sure it was produced by Touchtone pictures, which is owned by Disney. I might be wrong though, so don’t quote me on that. lol

Edit: thanks for the compliments, by the way. It definitely took a long time and I wish they had some way of identifying which titles had audio descriptions. Either a section in the search tab or just providing that information in the details of a title would be fantastic. I’m also happy that Star is in Canada. I just think that putting the list together over those two days really brought into focus how much of a disparity there is between their entire library and the titles that have audio descriptions. I’m honestly not sure if it would’ve bothered me as much if I hadn’t gone through everything.

Massive props for doing this. Is there any better way to discover this other than just going through and playing every single title?

Thanks! If there is an easier way, I’d love to know because this took freaking forever! I honestly set up my computer with the list I had and went through title by title on my phone, deleting which ever entries did not have the audio descriptions as I went. Spoiler alert though: None of the titles produce directly by 20th Century Fox have audio descriptions. So if you hear their intro with the drumroll and horns at the start of a movie, it won’t have audio descriptions. Truth be told, that was really disappointing to find out and eliminates a huge chunk of these titles when it comes to being accessible.

The Greatest Showman has audio description on Disney+ in the U.S. as of a few weeks ago.

Well that’s promising. Hopefully it means they will start providing audio descriptions for other 20th Century properties.

Yeah, I saw your blog post and very much agree with it. It's disappointing, because we know a lot of those movies do have audio description available. Hopefully they will add it to the service over time.

Exactly. It would be nice to get an explanation at least as to why they aren’t there to begin with but since you read my blog post, you pretty much know my feelings on this already. lol

At least they don't appear to have description for titles available in some countries and not others. I remember being confused about why I wasn't getting description on Prime Video, only to call in and be told that they didn't have the rights to offer it in Canada yet. Needless to say I was very annoyed. Thankfully that has been resolved.
