Lost vision in one eye around 3 years ago to a airsoft accident. My eye looks kinda weird. Was looking at some old photos when I was normal and had vision in both eyes it makes me feel sad and have regret any advice

Be happy that you lost your eyesight because of an accident, not because of congenital disease that will affect both eyes eventually. So as long as you don't shoot your other eye you're good.

Exactly!!!!!!

You can try to cover it up with sunglasses so that other people don’t see it. But, I know exactly what you’re going through. Maybe get some form of simple therapy to help except yourself and the way you look different? Maybe it’s a bit too much but it might be a good idea. I have very unstable I conditions and I got simple therapy last year to help me except the fact that I was going to go blind very soon. Maybe it might help you with your problem.

For clarification on my part, I was only able to read print from the ages of kindergarten age to third grade. I literally almost have no vision right now. I’m on my last leg of vision.

I was born with one eye vision I had the chance or can maybe get it fixed but I rather enjoy the vision I have on one eye then take the risk of maybe losing all because something might go wrong in the surgery. I still don't have normal vision in the one eye but I'm ok with it.

Not sure the risk but myself being someone that also lost vision in one eye 3 years ago after 34 with stereoscopic vision, id encourage the procedure.

yeah i have this, been like that my whole life id recommend sunglasses if youre not wanting people to see it

I've been blind in one eye since birth. My bad eye has a milky white colored pupil and is smaller in size than the other eye. It doesn't cause me any grief or emotional distress at all.
If you want it to appear normal, look into getting a prosthetic eye (if it's the entire eye socket) or a scaleral shell (if it's just damage to the surface of the eyeball) made.

Yeah i still have my eye I’m in the UK. I’m pretty sure one would be free how would I go about getting one ?

Here is more information about scaleral shells. I wear one myself. It's basically a hard contact lens that is made of acrylic, it's custom molded to fit the curvature of your eyeball and hand painted to look like a normal eye: https://ocularpro.com/prosthetic-eye-services-los-angeles/scleral-shell-prosthesis/
I'm not sure because I'm in the US. The professionals who make scaleral lenses are called ocularists. Maybe you can ask your GP or an eye doctor for a referral to an ocularist near you? I did some Googling and found that the UK has the National Artificial Eye Service, which is part of the NHS: https://www.naes.nhs.uk/
> The National Artificial Eye Service is part of the NHS. If you wear an artificial eye or cosmetic shell and are eligible for NHS treatment we have over 50 clinics in England where you can have your prosthesis checked and polished and be provided with a replacement when necessary. To find out your nearest clinic please ring our information line on 01253 951131. If we have not seen you for some time we may require a referral from your G.P. or Consultant.
Moorfields Eye Hospital in London has the largest ocular prosthetics department in the UK. Maybe try contacting them: https://www.moorfields.nhs.uk/service/ocular-prosthetics

Would one still fit if my eye is more or less same size as my other it just looks weird
TwinPurpleEagle1 points2y ago
Yes. The acrylic of my shell is rather thick so my small eye looks bigger and normally sized when I'm wearing the shell. You would have a thinner one made. The ocularist takes a mold of your eye so it fits comfortably on the surface of your eyeball and naturally moves with the movement of your eye muscles. Everything is painted to look cosmetically identical to your other eye.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time.
Only having the use of one eye myself, I'd recommend you treat that eye very very well. I wear goggles that'll stop a .22 bullet just to do maintenance at home, let alone for any kind of task one would consider risky.
I've met a lot of people with burnt corneas and metal filings in their eyes at the ER...
While we're on the subject, ear protection is also important if you're using power tools and so is an FFP2 or similar mask for dust and particles. And don't get me started on welding.
There's some of what could be called resentment in this thread that I'd like to address.
These people who didn't wear PPE I was talking about? A part of me wants to call them idiots. How can they be so callous? How can they take their sight for granted this way when I've been struggling my whole life?
The truth is we all take a lot of things for granted and we all go through different struggles in our lives. I'm sure I've been doing some really stupid things that'll ruin my back or give me some otherwise entirely preventable illness. I can't possibly be aware of everything though.
For some extra coping advice, I always sit on the left corner of tables so I can see everybody to my right and not have to turn my head all the way to the left. I'm sure you've figured that one out, by now, but if not, I hope it helps.

Lmao got tinnitus too and a little bit of laser damage in my remaining eye yep iv had an unlucky life !
MostlyBlindGamer1 points2y ago
I guess you know all about ear plugs then. Take care of yourself.
siriuslylupin6-3 points2y ago
Be thankful that you lost your vision because of an accident. And don’t worry about it too much honestly. What’s the point of faking or hiding you have the vision of one eye why are you sad some of us don’t even have that. Be greateful maybe you need to do gratitude checks. Check your attitude?
MostlyBlindGamer3 points2y ago
You're entitled to your feelings, just as much as OP, just as much as I am and just as much as anybody else is.
Nobody is less worthy of our understanding, regardless of what exactly they're going through or how they got there.
siriuslylupin6-1 points2y ago
Then why post a reply just saying what I think.
I think he’s a bit ungrateful and ablest here.
MostlyBlindGamer2 points2y ago
OP is ungrateful for being visually impaired? I don't think I follow...
Is it their use of the word "normal?" Hey, I know I'm not normal. So what?
Are you ungrateful for having been born with, let's say for argument's sake, the use of your legs?
siriuslylupin61 points2y ago
I am very appreciative that I can. I think they are ungrateful for the remaining vision they have.
siriuslylupin6-2 points2y ago
I think you should stop taking your vision for granted and stop being so ablest.
You can do so much more and see so much more then a lot of us. There’s nothing to complain about here.
