Focus 40 and Jaws Help? (self.Blind)
submitted by Icy_Shame7460
As a Braillist my wife helps a blind student in high school. His Focus 40 and Jaws program is not contracting correctly. Does anyone know what may be going on? I will answer any questions if you need clarification.

They should be adjusting this option in Settings Center, not Quick Settings or the Startup Wizard. In Settings Center, BEFORE ADJUSTING ANY SETTINGS, they must select Default from the Application combo box.

I had the same problem with one of my braille displays. I’d recommend going into the jaws settings and making sure the braille code is set to UEB contracted. Or the braille code used wherever you live. After you make sure that is set to the correct setting, open your focus 40 braille display and make sure that is set to the right setting also. Also, in jaws, there are two settings inputs braille coding output braille code. Set both of them to your braille code. if you have anymore questions or it doesn’t work, just ask them under this reply. I can’t take personal messages because I am on the website version of Reddit. Thanks and I hope this helps.

How do you set the setting on the focus 40? We’ve got the Jaws setting to UEB. Thanks for your help.

You can't. The other poster is confusing displays from two different manufacturers.

No idea unfortunately. You might be able to look it up. I know a little bit about the braille display because I use another bill display made by the same company, hymns. However, the one I use and the one you use are two very different braille displays.

Try calling Freedom Scientific Technical Support. They should be able to help.
