I'm gonna start this with some disappointing news. Electronic glasses won't let you drive. Sorry to burst your bubble. They don't offer depth perception, have high video latency, and the field of view isn't nearly wide enough.

I own and previously used a pair of NuEyes glasses. They're okay. They're the most helpful when you consider them wearable CCTVs. The screen is small and doesn't have a great white-point. There's also considerable latency to the video, and battery life is short. The biggest limitation is the available technology. If using your phone to look at objects for more than a few minutes at a time is helpful, then you may find use with electronic glasses, however you should consider them a tool and not a cure.

One thing to try is to purchase a smartphone VR headset. Stick your phone in it, and that will give you a loose approximation of electronic glasses. Bear in mind, the proper thing won't cover your entire field of vision. Hell, NuEyes covers maybe a quarter of my field of view with a display. Open up the camera up and look at stuff. If it helps, great! Look into setting up a trial with NuEyes or eSight through their respective websites. eSight does fundraising stuff, and NuEyes is an authorized vendor with some vocational rehab agencies.
