Phone Refresh Rates (self.Blind)
submitted by dunktheball
I am always posting about phones on here. lol. Taking me forever to buy one.

Has anyone who has some vision noticed a difference with eye fatigue or headaches based on your phone refresh rates?

In other words, has anyone used a 90hz or 120hz refresh rate phone and noticed it truly helping them have less eye or head issues?

I'd like to do the deal for a pixel 4a 5g for $250, but it's 60hz refresh. I'd say the cheapest higher refresh rate phones are double that price, though, except for oneplus and some people here say to avoid oneplus.

My top choice would be the iphone 12, but it has 60hz refresh rate AND is so high priced I don't think it's worth it since I won't use a phone often.

90hz AMOLED 6+ inch screen here. I can't tell the difference. AMOLED is great for dark mode though.

I made this deal with myself that after the 5th time TalkBack makes me want to throw my phone out the window I'll buy an iPhone. It's happened twice so far, so we'll see.

Just let them know where they stand. Be reasonable, but firm.

The refresh rate really doesn’t matter in my opinion. I’ve used an iPhone 12 and it has the most accessible features of any device on the market, especially for a flagship device. But I understand the thinking of the price tag. All a higher refresh display is going to do it make things smoother so there’s less jarring visuals, but I never have had any benefits other than it’s pretty outside of that.

So tough because even though I have never owned an iphone myself, I have used someone else's (older one) and also just feel like all combined the iphone 12 is what I'd want (the 11 has very good prices, but not oled for the basic 11). But with such a good price on the other phone, which also has an oled screen, it's tough to pass up. Also the deal on the iphone requires porting a number (I don't even have one active) and paying over 2 years, whereas the pixel can be unlocked after 60 days.

Both of those are 60hz, so on those two choices, obviously refresh rate is irrelevant. Main decision now is will I really sue the phone enough to warrant spending $500 extra. I am kind of doubting it, nut it's still tempting. lol. I'd for sure get the iphone if someone had a deal on it for around $500 total.
