What are somethings you do to take of your mental health? (self.Blind)
submitted by Carnegie89
Besides the common ones like getting enough sleep, reading, exercising and meditating, what do you do?

Hard Drugs!

Not really, though, lol. For me, my biggest things are just acknowledging my limits and recognizing when I'm about to hit burnout-mode, or anything.

Digging in the dirt. Gardening and trying not to kill my houseplants.

I shout. I go to an empty field and roar.

I also enjoy remixing audio to make famous people say things they never would, or mixing songs. it can be frustrating, but theraputically fun

OMG yes! I'm interested in getting more into this. I have a system I've created for doing this, but do you have any tips and tricks you'd recommend?

I tell my doctor and take anxiety medications
Winnmark 6 points 2y ago
Alcohol, lots of it. Lol

Hopefully when I can go to the gym again, I'll go back to my regular routine of 8 to 10 hours a week at the gym.

If you're a person of faith, participating in your religious activities might also be fruitful.

Therapy!

Anxiety meds, painting, journaling, audiobooks, making time to vent to/chat with trusted people in my life.

The biggest thing for me is recognizing when I’m struggling and advocating for myself. I also find it helpful to look at the success of others when I’m feeling discouraged —- like Haven Girma

Baking. It is so soothing just to create something that taste and smells good. Even if it just is chocolate chip cookies I made a thousand times.

My focus is on my animals - guide dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and 2 foster guinea pigs.

I socialize the fosters so they get used to handling and having a clumsy loud giant bugging them. Then they go to their forever homes. My 2 are foster fails. I fell in love with one of them pretty much instantly.

My cats are my life. They're about to turn 12 and 14. My girl is basically my ESA, though we don't have that classification here. She's my neurotic little nightmare and I wouldn't have her any other way. My boy is currently dealing with some medical stuff, which does have me a bit stressed so focus is largely around his care. And supplying the shredded chicken before he trips me and breaks my neck.

My dog... bless him, he is a doofus of epic proportion. My first dog was a bit similar while my second was polar opposite. I miss that jerk. First would do whatever you asked without thinking. Second would consider what was asked and \*might\* comply, if he felt like it (he'd also walk me into things when I annoyed him). Current... well... he's walked himself into a pole, tried to jump into a car through a closed door...
