Also not blind, but I’ve played around with voiceover a little for my friend. It seems to work fine with the New York Times crossword app based on a quick try. It’s a pricey crossword app but the puzzles are top notch and you have access to years of past puzzles.

The app is very difficult to use with VoiceOver. Though it seems to work at first glance, entering words and navigating clues is very difficult. 4Down is a completely accessible Crossword app for the iPhone. It costs 3 or 4 US dolllars.

I use 7 little words. It's a crossword-type puzzle without the co-ordinates like 7 down etc. It has worked very well with VoiceOver for years. HTH!
