IOS Accessible gadgets to measure speed distance heart rate calories burned etc. on a treadmill (self.Blind)
submitted by Comacrin
So… I currently cannot access my work out stats on my Nautilus T618 treadmill as its associated app (Explore the world) isn’t voiceoveraccessible. I have of course written the company about this, but in the meantime… are there devices or gadgets out there that are voiceover accessible with abpps to measure one’s work out stats? I don’t on or want an Apple Watch, so I’m looking more along the lines for things like heart rate monitor, something to track distance, calories burned, etc. Inserts for shoes or something along those lines? The old Nautilus trainer app was perfectly accessible so I never bothered researching this sort of thing before. But things changed… any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

I use the following for treadmill running:

* Adidas miCoach Speed Cell (a small Bluetooth stride sensor that attaches to your shoes)
* Polar H7 (electric-based chest strap Bluetooth heart monitor)
* iSmoothRun (iOS run logging information, supports Bluetooth sensors directly)
* iPhone (you know, to run the above app)

iSmoothRun has a simple calibration routine for the stride sensor; after calibration, I find the accuracy typically within 0.05 miles over a several mile run when manually comparing to my treadmill display. Other apps will also support Bluetooth sensors but I’ve been quite happy with iSmoothRun so I haven’t done much research.
