Would any form of "braille bombing" be helpful? (self.Blind)
submitted by CuriousCamelid
I'm wondering if it would be helpful for sighted citizens who double check their efforts to add braille anywhere that it's lacking. Are there any types of signs or other surfaces you come across that would benefit from added braille?

The restrooms signs at one of my wife's old offices that had incorrect braille on them, both were upside down. We scraped it off the bad braille and replaced it with corrected dymo tape braille.

We also brailled a washing machine in an apartment building.

Someone used to put Dymo tape braille in the BART subway. They were great about putting in places where your hand would land upon it like the side of platform benches.

I've heard of Daredevil, but I've never heard of the BART Brailler. That's really cool.

I don't think anything-bombing is a fantastic idea :) But to answer your question: it's an interesting thing. In the US there's quite a bit more braille then over here in NL, yet I would say that on average people here are actually more likely to actually know braille. So that's already one issue that would need serious fixing. People who go blind feel they don't need braille because they'd rarely have to use it, and in a sense they are right, so they don't, which means more braille would only be good to dispel that myth, not to actually be helpful ...its one of those chicken-and-egg-problems
