Hi does anyone know if there is such a thing as audio crochet patterns. I have tried following YouTube videos but they are useless. (self.Blind)

I don't know if there are any - but as an avid crocheter, I'd love to help find a solution.

Have you tried throwing the pattern in dictation software? Or is that useless because of all the abbreviations?

That is very kind of you, I am not sure how to send you a pattern if I had one, I am not very technicalsavvy. What kind of things do you crochet?

Mostly amigurumi - the little dolls - but I made a giant blanket last year too.

I like to make stuffed animals but only have a few types that I can make I would really like to be able to make some different animals. I joined this site yesterday and I am finding it very difficult to navigate is there a secret to it? I do not know what any of the arrows or awards or other things mean.

Awards are just a way for reddit the company to make money - they don’t really mean anything.

Arrows up means you like it arrows down means you don’t - called upvotes and downvotes officially.

The reddit search feature sucks so the best way to find reddit info is to search it in google and just add the word reddit at the end - so “crochet reddit” “memes reddit” “how to get out a red wine stain reddit” will pull up better results.

It is so frustrating when you have been following a tutorial for an hour and then They say… Put this here look…

ugh that sounds so frustrating. I feel like I go by feel much more when crocheting these days than sight anyway - I like to use velvety yarns that make stitches hard to see.

If you want to DM me a few patterns I will try to record audio of what to do early next week once I am done visiting family.

I was just about to type something along this line. lol. I'd be willing to help figure something out as well.

Worst case I’ll read a few patterns while smoking next week 🤷🏽‍♀️ once OP lets us know if this works.

Hi. Are you a screen reader user? Do you rely on audio, Braille, or large print? Do you have access to resources such as the NLS, Bookshare, or Audible? Your answer will allow me to determine which resource best fits your needs.

I’m in the UK

I would start by applying for a Bookshare membership and your region’s library for the blind. I know that the UK has a specific library for the blind, but I am just blanking on the name. Learning how to use a screen reader will be helpful when reading patterns. You can also access a small collection of crochet books on Audible.

This is a link to an index of accessible knit and crochet patterns for the blind.

You might like the YouTube channel, BagODayCrochet. Crystal is very descriptive and her yarn reviews are great as well.

Thanks, so far I have relied on audio but I am relatively new to being blind so not really sure what is available.
