How have covid-19 restrictions affected your ability to sense the world through touch? (self.Blind)
submitted by ismokedwithyourmom
Someone at chess club uses a tactile chessboard as he is fully blind, and it got me thinking about how some people rely on their sense of touch to navigate the world. Now that there are fewer things one can touch in public due to the risk of covid-19 transmission, are things more difficult for blind people? Do you have any suggestions on how to increase the accessibility of public spaces?

Haven't noticed a difference. Just carry some hand sanitizer and don't scratch your face.

Good to know and thanks for answering! I try to make myself aware about people's accessibility needs just in case there's anything that needs to change so appreciate your help

I personally haven't felt the need to make any changes. Most places I visit are often sanitized , so I don't give it much thought.

Same here, I don't have a lot of choice but to touch stuff. I thought about this early on and decided that I don't exactly go groping my way around the world anyway, I have a cane for that, so I'm not sure it's that big a deal. Carry alcohol gel and continue as normal.

Thanks for your answer; I'm glad to hear it's not a problem. I was thinking of stuff like the braille signs on public toilets, but now realise that you'd probably be sanitising your hands after touching such things anyway!
