Having been following the legal case that has made HBO finally make their app accessible and provide audio description, I've heard that the description is going to be crushed 2.0 stereo rather than preserving the 5.1 surround channels and ducking the center channel like with all the other streaming platforms. If this is true, that would be exceedingly disappointing since it provides a degraded audio experience for those of us who need AD to enjoy the content. Netflix can provide AD while still preserving the 5.1 home theatre audio quality, so there is no reason for HBO to provide an inferior product.
If that's indeed the case when the described content goes live, I'm going to immediately send in feedback asking for an equitable experience to be provided. If sighted users get HD and 4K visuals, giving blind users crushed 2.0 stereo audio for our audio description experience is just like providing sighted users standard to potato-quality definition and that's unfair.

If that is true, that would be extremely disappointing. I was hoping, that they would take an example from Netflix and Apple TV+. But, since not even Disney+ has their audio description available in 5.1 and upwards, I highly doubt, that HBO max will be any different. It’s a shame. Really.

Nice. I just tested it. The app works pretty well now. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any described title. I was hoping, that justice league would be described. Especially, because I thought, I read somewhere, that all titles produced after May 2020, should be described. But, I might be wrong there... Apart from that, it seems to work pretty well.

Unfortunately this app only seems to be available in the US, unless I'm missing something.

The app seems decent but, like everyone else here, I didn't find any audio described titles. Hoping we get some soon. I really wanted to watch Parry Mason.

I'm curious if he reads the subtitles of the miniserie Chernobyl.

Nice! Our main problem with HBO is that NONE of thier titles have been described. I hope they add some/keep adding them!

I think it is a soft launch for the update. I have not found any contact with any audio descriptions yet. I have been at it for about two hours now. I would love to watch the new justice league with audio description!

Yeah I've tried looking as well and havent found anything. Not surprised since it just released today. I'll probably look for a customer service email to ask how we can find the audio described titles.
