All I can give you is my support. That sounds rough. And the roughest thing of all, sex work with we believe my wife has endo and yes, you really should be able to get disability for it. It's a horrible and very misunderstood condition. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully he'll be able to learn the tools and techniques he needs to continue to live a kickass life, and can get on SSI.

I'm sorry for you, and I'm sad to see so much of this thread focused on your choice of employment. I can't do much except say that this all can get better. Plenty of blind people, myself included, have jobs despite being blind. I'm a programmer, but I know musicians, lawyers, call center reps, braille instructors, mobility instructors, social workers, and the list goes on. Once you and your SO can get through your SO re-learning what he needs to, there's no reason he can't get a well-paying job. It may be a different one from what he used to do, but it is possible. It may be tough getting there, but this isn't the end of the road for either of you. I wish I could offer more specific advice.

What is wrong with sex work? You sound like an ass. I’d also bet money you’ve consumed content from sex workers at some point whether it be a prostitute, escort, stripper, cammer, or pornstar. I make $300/hour when I’m up for escorting (which isn’t often because I’m not always up for getting out of bed at all) maybe you’re just jealous that you’d never be able to make that kind of money. Maybe I should just be homeless and starve so that biased people with sticks up their asses Can feel better

If you like your work and it pays then don’t let people judge what you do. SOme people really love exploring sexuality and helping people to do the same. I may be able to help if you are in the US. My father wrote an article with all of the resources required to find better paying employment and also legal resources to help you live with SSI without having any problems. Go to www.respectability.org and you’ll find it if you search a person’s name but I would rather that be a private thing lol. I want to help.

I just felt you should have had a little more couth about it, and maybe called it a sector in the 'adult industry' is all. I'm not a prude, and yes, I've watched porn and all.... but it just came across as kind of lewd I guess.

I just don't see how her post applies to the /blind community, since her complaint seems to be mostly about how she is worried she won't be eligible for SSI. She might have been better at getting help/advice by posting her situation in another subreddit, perhaps about SSI or social security.

I couldn't do it. I couldn't be with my wife if she was actively having sex with other men to support us. Camming is one thing but physical contact is (apparently) where I draw the line.

It should be legalized everywhere. And we should let them unionize. I think we would see a drop in violence against sex workers.

Well. That may be a hard thing to do with the whole morality problem especially here in America where people are very devout in their attitudes. I personally wouldn’t participate in it because it wouldn’t be personal to me but I understand why people like.it.
