TTS what is the best way to read books aloud? (self.Blind)
submitted by Lucky-Reflection-221
Okay so has anyone tried the Microsoft Edge read aloud? That voice is absolutely beyond amazing and natural. I want to use that to read books aloud, it does it with articles, web pages and the like but I cannot get it to read epubs aloud. Has anyone found a way?
I used to use natural reader program but it is so robotic. I am just using google books with the TTS voice but it does not compared to microsoft! I wish I had never even heard just how good it could be!
By the way there is no audiobooks of the ones I want to read, I'm talking fiction going back to like the 1960's and beyond!

I always use voicedream reader on my iPhone

The voices on that are natural sounding and it is basically just like reading an audiobook.

Sadly I've not found anything like it on other platforms like android or Windows
If you have an iPhone I can't recommend it more highly

Just looking at Voice Dream Reader, the reading isn't as fluid as the microsoft one. Ugh I wish I could just take a recording of what it sounds like.

Hello from the future!

Edge TTS, free with Microsoft Edge Browser is hands down the best TTS available today.

Change the voice to one of their "Natural" voices and you will have a great time.

Enjoy!

Do you know the voice name? Is it Microsoft desktop david?

if it is, that voice comes with your computer. You can probably use it with a different browser and extension.

I personally use Firefox and a plug-in called read aloud.

since browsers can read PDF documents, if you find a pdf version of the book you want, as long as it's text and not an image, the browser might be able to read it.

Hope it helps.

Ah seriously give edge a try, it can read aloud PDF documents. I was using it last night. You can select from a long list of different natural reads, male female and all different countries. Personally I like the female from Canada :)
I've gone back to just being lazy and using google books to read aloud for now, I'm too addicted to the book at the moment haha
