Hello. I was using NVDA until today, but got sick of constant problems with it and want to get back to JAWS. One problem I'm having is that JAWS has problem with Reddit scrolling. When the already loaded posts are done and I press "h" again to go to the next post JAWS loses its position and usually goes to the top of the page. I use new Reddit with Google Chrome. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks in advance.

I recommend getting a program called Reddit for blind. It’s basically a reddit client that helps with this problem and you can also post and do a whole bunch of stuff with it. It’s very useful when I want to write posts on my computer though I mainly use my phone to browse and write posts.

Use the old version. old.reddit.com. I don't recommend using clients for much of anything. I'm a web interface kind of person.

I don't want to highjack the thread but...
I'd been using JAWS for 25 years until I began to split my time between JFW and NVDA at work. I now use NVDA exclusively unless I need to support a JAWS user.
So I'm interested in your "constant problems".

I loved NVDA and still do, but there are some frustrating problems I'm experiencing and can't find any solution for them. The most important one is that the Browser mode randomly stops working and pressing insert + space doesn't solve it. I have to restart NVDA to be able to work with the page. Restarting NVDA is easy, but having to do it every 20 minutes or so is still annoying as hell.
The other problem is with tables in webpages. It happens a lot that I'm working with a page, reach a table and want to use the keystrokes designed for moving in a table, but they don't work. Again I have to restart the screen reader to get rid of this problem.
There are some others that I don't remember now, but the little things accumulated to pissed me off enough to switch to JAWS. Although I'll probably switch back to NVDA again, but for now I settle on JAWS.

Reinstall. Currently on version 2020.4 and never had that issue in over a year.

The tables stuff works for me.
You might want to go into the nvda options and look there for focus and brows mode stuff.
Updating nvda might help if you haven’t already.

Well, that's almost certainlly atypical behaviour. The only time I need to toggle between browse and focus modes is ... er ... well, when I need to. To pass keys through to the browser, etc. On both Chrome and Firefox, NVDA runs as well as, if not better than, JAWS.

Use the iOS app Dystopia or the Windows app Reddit For Blind instead.

Where is the Reddit for blind app available? Can you use it on a window laptop? What about an iPhone?
CloudyBeep3 points2y ago
redditforblind.org, but I really don't recommend it because it doesn't have many features.
FantasticGlove6 points2y ago
The dude who made this app regularly updates it and makes new features. I like it for it’s simplicity anyway.
RedditForBlind2 points2y ago
That is true, part of it is because it is not released yet. I'm working on the version 1.0 and it's a hobby project I do in my free time. You are totally right, it's not a full reddit client yet far from it. I don't know if it will be, but there will definitely be more features coming up. The selling point or I guess why I created it is really to be able to use reddit fast. It is for power reddit users that really want to have the absolute fastest experience on Reddit

I'm writing this comment using Reddit for Blind. Thanks so much for recommending it. It's very comfortable to use.
RedditForBlind2 points2y ago
I'm glad you like it! I can't believe that so many people (ok not that much really) talk about it when I didn't release it yet

You can do that with the template engine already if you'd like. Press F1 to open documentation and read the section with the templates. There are examples and you can tweak them in your installation folder. I know it's an advanced feature with no UI support, you have to go edit the text file, but let me know if you succeed. The information read when pressing numbers 1-5 on your keyboard are templates that you can all modify.

Navigate by level 3 heading. If the scrolling breaks, go back one level 3 heading and then go forward. NVDA foA and Firefox on my end and it works fine
