I’m blind; not an incapable child (self.rant)

I know the disabilities are nowhere near the same, but I'm mostly deaf and I can relate (and sympathize).

Oh, you can't hear? I think I'll mumble quieter. Didn't hear a word? I'll repeat everything but that word for you and assume you can't understand anything bigger than one syllable.

How about if I snap in your face or shake you? Does that fix your hearing? Huh? Why not?

How about I tell the people behind you to talk louder so your hearing aids only pick that up? Why aren't they perfect?

You're too young to have hearing problems, so you're obviously lying despite me seeing your hearing aids. You can hear a little? You must be fine. Fuck subtitles, learn to hear miraculously!

I'm not blind, but I assume you get similar problems from assholes.

Not OP, but yes... Instead of snapping, its waving hands in my face.

And ugh yes, people talking to me like I am a toddler ... Or ignoring me completely and talking to someone I bring with me when I am the one who asked the question and will be making the decision.

I'm both used to and tired of people talking to my husband because they don't want to bother enunciating properly.

Ugh.

Never look at your medical files. My wife and I moved from California to Washington and we got my medical files and hoooly shit did every single one of my PCPs suck ass. HORRIBLE comments basically echoing what happened to you except much meaner.

Goddamn elitist snobs. And the doctors up here aren't any better. I can't wait to outlive them all.
