Call me negative, but here I come.
1. The app feels, quite literally, clunky. Clicking recent activities lagged me out pretty bad to say the least.
2. No private message, or chat support.
3. Can't access one's account settings at all from what I'm seeing.
4. Push notifications, while I have no way to test, I don't believe are a thing.
5. To reply and read comments, it would appear as if one has to open the link in their browser? Hitting enter on a post launches my default browser, applications key and tab do nothing, alt brings up the system menu.
6. If I wanted to access my front page, I go to
$17. If I want to see everything I'm subscribed to, or subscribe to new subs, all I have to do is do
$1 to load them, click on them to view, (view in a new tab to make it more convenient) join to join, leave to leave.
Reddit is fully accessible using google chrome, and I assume firefox, while I use NVDA primarily, I assume JAWS works too. If not, that's on JAWS to fix, but it certainly is not reddit's fault.
I feel like reddit is accessible enough as is, (have I mentioned
$1 just yet?) and such an app would have to come a real long way to get anywhere close to main reddit, and given things are accessible as is, why reinvent the wheel? I'd rather someone did a tutorial for those who struggle, and would benefit from the app. If development ever stops, (nothing lasts forever) those who relied on this might just be out of luck. If one uses the native reddit on browser, it's more likely to stay, and to be supported. Having said all that, I always believed in using a mainstream alternative if it's viable enough, for features, update, and dependability purposes.
Again, please call me negative, either that, or take this message as a suggestions list. I'd be glad to take a look 5 6 months down the road, if you're at all interested in trying to compete with what the browser offers currently.
I would also be rather surprised if someone who makes apps alike didn't know how to use regular reddit, but knew how to code the app.
Also if you put your reddit in card view, you move by heading, (each post is a heading on a sub) down arrow to read. Yes, in card iew, the first 5 6 paragraphs will be visible, even without having to open the post. If one then wants to comment on the post, they can shift enter on it to open it in a new tab. I guess you could say I'm rather, puzzled.
Also, if you guys wanted to toggle r/blind so it shows new instead of trending, trending instead of new, or show top instead of the other 2, all you literally do is do r/blind/new, r/blind/hot, r/blind/top...
Also one can choose in their reddit settings what sort order they want to use by default. I got mine set to new, for obvious reasons.
