You may need different sunglasses. Are yours prescription, or are they ones you've just picked up? You'll likely have better options if you get prescription lenses. You could also try polarized lenses and see if they're any better for you.

If you haven't done so already, you should see about going to a low vision specialist. They're different than seeing a doctor. Their job is not to treat your eye condition, but rather they'll help you figure out what tools you need to actually get the most use out of the functional vision you have. They may be able to help you find the right lens color, tint, glare reduction, etc. combo that works for you.

If none of that's working, honestly, I'd start learning to do as much as I could without my vision, e.g. get O&M training and start using a cane if you don't already. Then you could wear super dark welding glasses outside and/or just keep your eyes closed.

Learn to navigate your house and do things like laundry, cooking, dishes, etc. all that mundane stuff without the need to have your eyes open.

I'd just find ways to minimize the amount of time I was using my eyes so that I was more comfortable and they were more rested for when I did need to look at things.

I already use a cane, never thought of keeping eyes closed when too bright

Are they kind of a rusty brown? Those were the best I have found, also surround. I always wear a hat, when it's real bad I'll also wear a hoodie for extra side protection. Stay in low light as I can.

All my devices are in dark mode or black background. Have my brightness turned down as low as I can. This one might sound a little silly, but one of my docs told me about it. Rice sock. Fill a sock (we all at least one pair that's missing its partner, lol) with rice and tie off. Microwave for about 30 seconds just til warm. It's so soothing on the eyes.

I know these aren't solutions, but I hope maybe one of them may be a little helpful for you.

Hi I made a post asking for sunglass recommendations for light sensitivity you can check it out on my account and check out the comments. I got a lot of good recommendations (sorta expensive recommendations though which isn’t ideal for me but some are not that expensive)

I have cocoons, they fit over my normal glasses and wrap around my temples. They don't look great but they get the job done.

Do you know what percentage of light that they let in? Mine said about 14%. I know there are category 4 sunglasses that are super dark.

Are your glasses surround glasses, or are their gaps? Peaked hats. For personal use don't use white paper, although it's hard to avoid out and about though. Tinted windows in the car.

surround glasses, my eyes hurt in normal light even. I wear sunglasses all the time
