Are there any KNFB Reader alternatives? (self.Blind)
submitted by WithTimeComesStories
My mother sight is impaired and I'm not always available to read her mail or go shopping with her.

KNFB Reader on play store has exceeding negative reviews and most claim the app no longer works after an android update. We are looking for an alternative that just works, paid or otherwise.

EnVision AI works well on iOS and I hear there is an Android version. It is subscription but you would have to subscribe for nearly a decade to equal the price of KNFB Reader. It also has a trial of a reasonable length to learn if it is suitable. I know it was more than enough to figure out Where my mail came from and if I wanted to bother opening it. It did a passable job of reading the contents of my mail and it is fairly good at reading labels on cans in the grocery store.

Also Be My Eyes Is probably better when you aren't around and she needs to read the instructions on something. EnVision will just read every word it sees without filtering anything out(Which is not always desirable but often is).

Seeing AI is pretty handy but I don't recall off the top of my head if it reads.more than labels and such.

It does. I can go as far as saying that using this app is the single best thing one can do for themselves.
