How do I get voiceover to read math expressions. (self.Blind)
submitted by blind_system
I'm currently doing algebra, but VoiceOver won't read any of the examples correctly inside of a document. Is there any workaround for this outside of mathML?

Depends on lots of things.

What format is the document in? If it’s a PDF, check the encoding software (command+i). If it was created using TeX, ask the author for their source code and either read it directly or convert to MathML.

OK, looks to just be using Unicode characters. It's readable although not the easiest to work with.

I noticed voiceover will read the expression properly if mathtype is used. Do you know what kind of encoding MathType uses?
