Almost totally blind N scale railroad modeler here. I need sighted help for some scenary but the track these days is modular and snaps together (Kato Unitrack). I am a geek and the elctronics is fascinating too. I am building a 70ft layout in my garage and hooking it all up to a computer with the intention of some day running trains automatically stopping at stations with announcements, etc. It will take me years LOL!

And here I was thinking I was the only one. I've an N scale layout that is progressing at a glacial pace in one of my spare rooms. My grandpa (totally blind) also modelled N scale.

I don't know about the airfix models specifically but I do know of low vision people doing model train layouts and dioramas which are similar scale and require similar skills and tools.

thats what i mean how would it work im functionally nearly totally blind. I can get someone to read the instructions but how would i know where the parts go or what orientation

if you have someone to read the instructions, which includes orientation and where it connects, why wouldn't they read that out as well? just make sure they add details.

maybe if you're worried try a 3d wooden puzzle (they're simple) or a lego set first

good idea

Can you get the person reading the instructions to guide your hands or something? That’s sometimes how my boyfriend and I build Lego if it’s complicated, but I know Lego and model cars and boats etc aren’t the same

good idea
