I think this might not be as shallow as people are making out, since beauty is a big part of the human experience. That said, as a blind person, it's certainly more secondary. I have usable vision, so though I don't ofen get a sense of people's attractiveness from looking at them, after a few interactions from many angle or if I get the right circumstances with light, I will get a "blast" of perception and be able to make my own evaluation. Otherwise, you can often tell from how people are treated by others. Often I'll be like, why are people listening to this person even though they're saying boring things? And the answer, if they're not high status in some other way, is typically physical attractiveness.
Also, smell is a big thing with humans, though it's mostly subconscious. Much of what you find attractive in others is based on literal chemistry.
