Chinese learning tools (self.Blind)
submitted by ukifrit
I’m getting back to my Chinese studies this year and I’ve been wondering if anyone has suggestions of iOS apps / windows programs that are helpful for this.
The ones I’m using right now are:
- Line Dict, which isn’t that accessible but manageable.
- Google translate for some stuff.
- MandarinSpot.
- Youglish, pretty cool site to look up expressions spoken by real people.
That’s it. I’m particularly interested in a good and accessible dictionary.

Unfortunately I don't know a huge many more either ...what I would recommend you do is look at the subreddit for Chinese (probably Mandarin) learners, and try some of the online resources there. My language guide on this sub will have some tips for you as well which will pertain to Mandarin as well :)

they like pleco a lot, but it is completelly inaccessible. They also love anki but it's also crappy as hell to use.
I think you could add quizlet to your apps list, it is reasonably accessible both on the web and in it's ios app. I know there is a better accessible solution for ios but I haven't tried it yet.
Thanks for your guide btw. Some nice stuff there.

Anki can be used if you stick to the web version, as the guide suggests. Essentially, you download your deck of choice, open it in the Desktop version, then sync it to the web. If you want to apply something like Morphman to your deck it looks like you can do that and it will resync the order of cards for you.
Then, the deck will show up on Anki Web, and studying from there is quite a bit more doable.

As for Quizlet ...yeah, I know of it, but given how low it is on pretty much everybody's radar where community-generated content is concerned I didn't really feel it was worth mentioning. At that point, you'd really only want it for your own quizzes, and I feel $1 does that better
