My little bro and I started playing chess during quarantine using an accessible chess board. He's getting really good at it! I know titled chess players can play blindfolded so I'm hoping we can get to the point where we can play just by speaking moves to each other. He tells me that Lichess is an accessible chess site where we can play together online also.

I have some sight, so my husband and I play sometimes. I too have a chess board for the blind. All of the black pieces have a tiny finishing nail nailed into the top of each piece, and all of the black squares are raised. Each piece also has a peg on the bottom, that fits into a round hole in each square. The best thing is, if one of us bumps the board, none of the pieces move! And he is, and always will be, the better player.

I dabble some and I have a tactile chess board that has the black squares raised, and pins on the heads of the black players, and then all the 64 squares have holes in them to make the pieces stay. I play like once a year if that.
Also the one Blind games app www.qcsalon.net has chess.

I play Go and Mahjong, does that count at all? I also played chess previously, but it was when I was still sighted. Mahjong has been easy since it's all carved pieces, though I don't know how that'd work online.
I'll have to try that online Chess site. Thanks for the resource!

lichess is great! It recently implemented more accessibility so you can now view the board and play using it. You used to only be able to type in your moves but now you have both options.

Oh that’s cool! I also play chess with an accessible board. However, I am not nearly to the point where I can play orally, but maybe that’s just because I have trouble visualizing special things in general. I had never heard of that website though, that’s so cool!

Not one myself but I know a good handful of blind chess players. There’s this group that gets together on this clubhouse app. I also know the most famous chess player in the world I believe he’s first in blind chess nice smart indian guy. Met him when I was like like what maybe 18 or 19. I think this guy is in his early 20s think he studies science and apparently looking at his and his brothers pages is teaching chess online.
