Looking for Participants for a Human-Computer Interaction Research Study (self.Blind)
submitted by Aspiring_Roboticist
Our research group at University of Wisconsin-Madison is studying blind and low vision people’s experiences with mainstream robots like the vacuum robots, Delivery Robot, drones etc. Based on the study, we will explore how blind and low vision people have used different types of mainstream robots, what challenges they face, what is their coping strategy to use these robots, and how they want to improve the robots. This study will help us create technologies to enhance the accessibility of mainstream robots to blind and low vision users. We are looking for participants to participate in this study to help us with our work!

**Participants must:**

* Be at least 18 years old
* Be blind or have low vision
* Have some experience with mainstream robots like a vacuum robot, delivery robot, drone, etc.

We will set up a Zoom call to conduct an **interview study**. During the interview, we will ask a set of questions mainly pertaining to your experiences with mainstream robots. The study session will last for about **1 hour in total**.

Participants, who are US residents, will be compensated with a $15 Amazon gift card for each hour of the study session.

If you are interested in participating in our study, please use the below link to answer a screening questionnaire:

$1

We will contact you to schedule the study if you are eligible for the study. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a comment on this thread.

Please feel free to share this survey with anyone who might be interested. We look forward to learning about your experience! Thank you for your time.

How will the data be used?

Keeping in mind that last time you posted you requested people to post their email address on an open internet forum, how will personally identifiable data be protected and what will happen to that data when the study is finished?

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Our study has been approved by the University's Institutional Review Board (IRB). We will take all critical actions necessary to protect our participant's confidentiality during the data collection, data analysis, and presentation. All the research records will be coded to store identifiable information separately from the rest of the data. All videos/images will be edited to blur identity before using/storing them. In general, we will store the data in secure places and only the Principal Investigator and our research team members will have access to it.

Participants will be informed about all the aspects of the study during the consent stage of the study, and they will have the option to skip/withdraw from the study, if they feel uncomfortable/fatigued.

I apologize for asking personal information in an open forum the last time. That post has been deleted.

I hope this answers your question.

Thank you.
