Hi guys, I am working on a project I would love to share!
I am working on a set of tactile stickers of different symbols, heights, and finishes which can be applied to makeup and beauty products. My goal is to create a more inclusive makeup experience. I first thought of a line of makeup products with built in tactile differentiations, but realized this only opens a small section of the market for blind and visually impaired users.
I would love to hear any feedback at all :) thank you in advance

The plastic dots that others are referring to are called “bump dots.” They come in different shapes and sizes, and can be applied to items to help identify whatever you want.
Check out this Allure video where Molly Burke, a popular YouTuber who is blind, talks about makeup and accessibility and includes a bit of information on tactile markers. https://youtu.be/u2Xx_C5X9lM

This is the video that has inspired my project! Thank you for referring me to bump dots. I am interested in designing a form of bump dots for makeup products specifically. If something like that could be sold in Sephora maybe some changes would start to happen in the industry.
Thank you for your response : )

What do you have so far? I love the prospect of accessible makeup

What I have so far is a set of 40 stickers in total that the user can assign to items that feel very similar in their collection. There are 10 symbols that can be assigned to colours by the user. Each symbol comes in two finishes: matte or glossy, which can identify the finish of the product. In both matte and glossy, the user has the option of two heights that represent the darkness of colour.

I would love feedback!

This is interesting, I am totally blind, I have a talk show in titled third eye visions in which I promote such things as this on my show, would you be interested in coming on and talking about this? Https://www.youtube.com/c/3rdeyevisions

I like using my pen friend to label my make up. I can leave a detailed description that way. I was looking into accessible packaging and found a company in the UK that labels theirs with braille, but I don't know if that leaves a description or not

I think you could use that sort of thing on more or less anything. Right now you're just left looking for different types of sticky plastic feet.
And they come off when they get hot or wet.

Yeah, excellent!

Sighted person here: I think this sounds like a really elegant solution to a presumably very annoying problem.
