Its been a while, hello friends! (self.Blind)
submitted by _-_-Anonymous-_-_
I wanted to post here for the first time on this account- On my previous one I was very active and am excited to get back!

I had a following from this community and was a mod on r/blindteens. As well as being an active advocate for the blind community, working on projects with APSEA and CNIB specifically!

Because of these things I frequented this subreddit to share my experiences and advice. *I've found that some people take this the wrong way and assume I think I am better than other blind people. When thats not at all what I am trying to say. I want to share my story with all of you because I've been in a lot of the situations I've seen posted here- terrified of how to be independant while losing vision, awaiting news about my vision, trying to deal with prejudice and ignorance, and so much more. I want anyone out there who is feeling isolated because of their blindness to know that there are people who understand. To be honest I wish I had someone like that in my life. (Not to mention my vision journey is not over yet, and I am hoping to find support here as much as wanting to give support)

As someone who lost vision just a few years ago I can relate to the isolation. Hopefully the community can help change that.
