I'm 27 years old and I have Choroidal Neovascularization, I was diagnosed last year. I'd like to connect with people who suffer from CNV and to find more information (self.Blind)
submitted by HyunaTheHyena_
I have bilateral, precursor lesion of idiopathic Choroidal Neovascularization. I had multiple thorough examinations, scans and photos taken of my eye. I'm being under observation in a very good student hospital in Seoul where I live.

My case is I believe quite unique... because I'm not myopic, I don't have a family history of eye disease, and never had any eye problems. To add to this, my CNV got bad overnight in September last year (wavy vision in one single spot in left eye, could not see objects or read text completely straight even with both eyes open, despite only left eye producing symptoms), got a little better for a couple weeks, got even worse a month later, and after about a month the symptoms has subsided almost completely, and my vision still remains 20/20, with a very faint, unnoticeable wavy vision in my left eye. I've had all the necessary tests done 3 times, which showed the movement/"natural progression" of the lesion, but no growth or leaks so far. My left eye is a lot more affected than my right eye, which remains mostly clean.

My prognosis is total unknown, I could keep a perfect sight for the rest of my life, or need eye injections next week.

However, I believe there's some change for the worse again (just this past week, I had scans 1 month ago and there was no change since October) and I think it's related to alcohol consumption but it's something I can't verify anywhere.

I'm in the dark with this disease and I'd love to reach out to other people who might have it and to have access to a variety of sources on the topic. I'd especially love to read experience of people who have CNV, how it progressed, their treatment results, and maybe some reassurance too ; ;

I'd love to talk to someone about it.

So sorry that you are going though this. I was diagnosed ICNV in a month ago, no reason to explain it, I feel so awful because I have already resigned my job and preparing leaving China to New Zealand, now I have to postponed my planing and take care of my eyes for a while. I’d be appreciated if someone can share related information or essays🥲

Hey, where can I add you so we can keep in touch? How are your eyes doing now?

Stay strong \~ I'm really sorry you've been diagnosed with it but it's not the end of the world and we will not go blind.

Hi, I'm terribly sorry to hear that T\_T I replied to your private message.

In my reply I asked you a lot of questions and asked you to tell me the circumstances of your diagnosis, how it progressed, what doctors said etc., you could also reply in a long message here so anyone who Googles this stuff finds our comments.

I was diagnosed with Myopic Choroidal Neovascularization on my left eye last month. I’m a 24 year old who’s had severely high myopia for years now. I feel kinda lost and alone going through this. I wish there was a way to talk to people with this same condition.

I'm really really sorry you're going through this. Can you tell me more about your situation and your current symptoms? And what your doctors said?

In fact I found there's far more people with myopic CNV than non-myopic, non-age related, and there's way more available information on it. So please reach out to whatever places you can find online and locally because you will find many people suffering from the same condition. Whenever I'd tell people I had CNV on eye-related forums they'd usually even assume it was myopic, because people with high myopia are likely to get it young.

You are absolutely not alone in this\~
