Other than 'Blind people can take care of themselves just fine' I'm not sure how to show representationbetterin stories I write. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

Humans have been telling each other stories around campfires for thousands of years. They often remixed characters and situations from one story to another and that's how some of the most famous stories came to be. That's how Beowulf exists, and that's seriously old.

I think that's pretty much the only sort of hassle I regularly get, people being pleasantly surprised! You just have to play it the right way. Don't make it a whining session, just say "oh well, there you go, and there's nothing amazing about me!" and carry on. Maybe this stuff is just water off a duck's back to me. You're amazed I'm not basically in hospital? Oh well, that old chestnut...
