Any ideas for bringing clothes to and from a laundromat for someone who can't drive? (self.Blind)
submitted by TheNewMe20
Moved into my first apartment and it doesn't have laundry. I've been taking my clothes to my parents house on weekends for washing. I'd like to be able to use the laundromat in my town to be more independent, but not sure how I'd deal with carrying around piles of laundry by myself being that I have no car and always have one hand on my guide dog. Any ideas for like bags or carts that I could use for carrying clothes?

You could also look into apartment washing machines. There are some neat ones that are compact and use little electricity and water. They drain into the tub/shower. They also do a spin cycle so that clothes are dry enough to hang dry.

Could you manage the dog and a pull along cart or a large rucksack? Ikea does a huge blue bag but it could be heavy to carry they also sell a little full up cart that their bags hook onto

Hi there, you could try a plastic bin on wheels with a retractable handle that should only take one hand to manage such as $1

My other advice is just to make your trips more frequent (which is a drag unfortunately) and not let laundry pile up so that it is unmanageable. It will make taking it to and from much easier!

That basket looks really cool. I'll consider buying that or something similar.

You're right that I may just have to wash clothes more often to make the individual loads more manageable. I've also considered trying to wear fewer clothes lol.

There's carts at Walmart. Get a cart and a laundry bag. Put the bag inside of the cart and just push it. ;) Works great of you need to ride the bus too.

Giant backpack. Get a bergen from a military surplus place.

Hi, I do this every two weeks! I use carry-on size luggage with wheels.

Also look up "steel cruiser cart." It's a foldable shopping cart, which would work well for larger loads.

I would recommend a backpack, you can fit a decent amount of stuff in it while keeping your hands free. You'll probably have to put it next to you or on your lap on the bus depending on where you're sitting and how much room you have.
