Mother's day gift ideas for my blind mother? (self.Blind)
submitted by rianishere
Hey! My mom is blind and I want to get her something special for mother's day. I know it's today, but I won't be seeing her until next weekend so I have about a week to get her something. Any ideas?

What does she like? Go with that. Reading? Hook her up with a library card and connect it to libby, so she can check out some books. She can listen right from the app. Theres also audible and Scribd. Obsessed with Marvel? Get her a disney+ subscription and set up the audio description for her.

Is there anything she's said she would like in the past few months?

I also agree with getting her dinner or some treat via a delivery service.
And it’s really hard to answer these questions because there’s a lot of diversity in the blind community. If she’s a Braille reader there’s shops that sell masks with studded Braille on them. (I’m not a huge fan Bc it’s not contracted Braille) if she isn’t a Braille reader i would suggest some containers that are fun shapes, a house plant that doesn’t mindbeing touched like a snake plant, mancala, I’ve recently enjoyed having different shaped magnets so I can remember what is on the fridge. I hope this helps.

I have a suggestion, if you want to get your mother something wonderful for Mother's Day and she is blind, I would suggest getting her a real copy of her favorite book if you can. If you can't, then get her a talking something she can use in the house example, talking scale or talking measuring cups anything like that they could help you work in the kitchen if she's still able to do that sort of thing. Someone mention food delivery, but the problem with food delivery is that it may not get they're in a nice manner, but the Seas especially the book you can post analyze it.

You still have time! Have some nice food delivered to her. Maybe a pastry she likes, some ice cream, or even dinner.
