What do you think are some unique/interesting parts of blind culture? (self.Blind)
submitted by Criptedinyourcloset
Hey guys. I’m a blind teenager and recently I’ve started getting into the TTS fandom. If you don’t know what that is, it’s literally what it sounds like. It’s quite confusing though so I’d recommend you just look it up. Anyways, I was thinking about this and I started thinking if they were unique/interesting parts of wind culture that were kind of weird or would be weird to other people. Like, just things that we do/talk about/you know just cultural things that other people don’t have a slash are unaware of. Kind of similar how to the deaf community has a certain culture, or how nerds have a certain culture. I know those things are completely separate but I think you get what I’m trying to say. Thanks guys so much and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Well the blind puns are an integral part of the culture and the gang cold war we've had here in America is pretty damn unique and funny (to me.) I'm an AFB kinda guy personally even if I'm in NFB country.

Can't speak to prevalence here but I have braille ink.

How we name our white canes :)

Also, if you like horror movies I recommend going onto YouTube and looking up jaws for windows is a murderer. It’s a 2 1/2 hour movie but it’s worth it. Highly recommend.

Idk, if it was like this at other blind schools. At mine though, we had our own slang. We called ourselves blindies, and the sighted people sighties. There was this one group of boys we called the lunch line booty grabbing club because once they made it to the line, they just stopped using their canes and would feel up everyone in line in front of them. There’s the NFB VS ACB, Apple VS Windows, Ambutech VS NFB canes, and so on.

Yep. Definitely. So, what blind school do you go to? I’ve heard slang like that before. But I’m not sure if it’s exclusive or not. I’m up here in Colorado. So I will sleep go to Colorado school for the blind. Also, definitely Apple versus windows. I’m kind of split on that war two. What, which one do I go with? The NFB versus the other foundation when I don’t really get just because NFB is the only real foundation I’ve had a lot of experience with. Also the cane one. Amber tech is the only company my school gets canes from so I don’t know about that other company. We kind of have our own version of the booty grabbing club. Will call them back slappers. Because when they’re feeling people up and down in the line, they’re usually more aggressive about it and end up slapping people.

I’ve been out of school for about seven years now, but I use to go to the Kentucky school for the blind.

I am not an American. I honestly tend to run really really fast from just about any accumulation or exclusive social circle of the blind.
Around here the blind groups in my city are mostly filled with too much drama, infighting and backstabbing.
Who fucked who, who is using that other person to make his partner jealous, who brags about x things, who are cheating on that other person ... I guess you understand me.
In my city, groups of the blind produce as much or more drama and ridiculous plots than a Mexican soap opera.
The closest thing I know to a blind culture circle is this subredit. Oh, and groups of gamers on telegram or discord.

Talking about VoiceOver voices, like what one you use and what speed you have it at

Yeah, in my school we would have stereotypes. Like I don’t know. “Oh that idiot uses Freddy I want to see his test scores at the end of the year. Write “that’s literally a stereotype in her school. Also, that’s why the TTS random I feel like it’s so big in the blind community.
CosmicBunny97 1 points 2y ago
That’s pretty funny actually. I’ll also have to look into the TTS fandom. Where did you learn about it?
Criptedinyourcloset [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Yeah, if you go onto YouTube and look up Microsoft Sam
Go animate
Or just search for text to speech. You’ll find something. Also, if you have 2 1/2 hours of your time to kill, I recommend looking up jaws for windows is a murderer. It’s also on YouTube.
