Oh so cool! Any tips for figuring out a new gym as a blind person?

Not the responder, but I'd really recommend having one of the staff help you out. I did and I don't regret it.

Bachelors in University Studies, a general humanities degree. I’ve worked in Youth Ministry for the last 17 years.

I’m returning to school, hopefully this fall (should find out this week), for a Masters Degree in Visual Rehabilitation Therapy. Then I’ll be a CVRT!

Wow that’s about as different as you can get lol
AntiAngelix 2 points 2y ago
Hahah, right?! But they surprisingly went really well together

Sometimes having a different background enables you to see what your peers can’t, I know that was certainly true for me

My degree was in history. I only really did it because we were the last year to get it for free and I didn't want going blind to throw me out of college. So I did history. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with what I do now. I'm a musician with no formal qualifications or training and I am one of three directors of a musicians agency. Never trained for it, just figured it out.

Do not settle.

Cybersecurity. I've completed a minor in linguistics and I'm also specializing in digital forensics and incident response.
zersiax 3 points 2y ago
Curious what resources you are using for cybersecurity, and what certs you aim to go for? I am in talks with folks over at OffSec about OSCP with a screenreader, they're looking into it after I tossed all the research I've done into this at them a few weeks ago. Are you fully blind?
Winnmark 2 points 2y ago
I have a lot of usable sight, I don't think I would be useful to you.

One of the classes I'm in right now is preparing us to take the network+ exam if we desire. I've also considered the standard compTIA exam, and with some experience I would like to get the security+ one. Right now my main focus is getting an internship or job though, to be honest.

Eventually I'd like to get a masters. Probably in computer science or cyber security. I was a computer science major, but the cs department at my school isn't... good.

Cool, are you in the finance field or did econ turn you away from that field?

I have an art degree with a focus on design and an art history minor. I've followed that up with a 25yr career as a software engineer.
Terry_Pie 2 points 2y ago
Bachelor of International Studies (Honours) and am returning to uni next semester to start law.
zersiax 2 points 2y ago
I have my bachelor in IT. As a hobby I do various online courses, mostly programming and cybersecurity related. Not so much for the certs, but for the project building which I can then add to my Github. I'm strongly considering getting some kind of cybersecurity-based certification at some point, though.
